A recent basement remodel in Wyomissing, PA that elevated the space with both function and style. This project included a series of upgrades across the board contributing to a comprehensive improvement of the living area.
Framing
The project began by addressing moisture prevention, with 6 mil plastic installed along the exterior walls as a barrier and aluminum pieces integrated at windows to prevent water ingress. The structural changes included framing new layouts for walls, ductwork, beams, and support poles. All exterior walls were insulated with R13 insulation to enhance energy efficiency.
Electrical
The electrical enhancements were extensive. We installed new circuits dedicated to the basement, ensuring adequate power for the new layout. Fifteen convenience outlets were strategically placed to maximize usability, and twelve new LED recessed lights were installed, controlled by dimmers across three separate areas to allow adjustable lighting solutions. We also repurposed existing light fixtures in the storage and water main areas, adding new controls for ease of use. The installation of a customer-supplied vanity light added a personalized touch to the bathroom.
Plumbing
Plumbing included installing a new sewage pump within a freshly jackhammered pit, laying out new drain lines for the toilet, and running a 2-inch vent line across the ceiling. PEX piping was used to connect to existing water lines for the toilet, bathroom sink, and sink at the counter area. All necessary valves and traps were installed to ensure a fully functional and leak-proof system. We also installed a new 30-inch vanity, a toilet, and the customer-supplied sink faucet, each chosen to complement the newly remodeled space’s aesthetics and functionality.
Drywall
We install drywall on all newly constructed walls, as well as around ductwork and beam box outs. This step not only creates a smooth, polished surface but also conceals structural elements, giving your space a clean and cohesive look.
The installation of drywall followed, covering all new constructions, which was then meticulously finished, primed, and painted. For the ceilings, we opted for a modern 2x2 tegular style drop ceiling, enhancing both accessibility and acoustics.
Ceiling & Flooring
For the ceilings, we opted for a modern 2x2 tegular style drop ceiling. Like all drop ceilings it provides easy access to the area above, where electrical wires, plumbing, and HVAC systems are often housed, ensuring maintenance and adjustments can be made without hassle. This ceiling type also enhances acoustics, improving sound insulation and reducing noise within the room.
The flooring choices were designed to maximize comfort and durability: carpet was laid down in the basement areas and steps, while luxury vinyl plank flooring was installed in the bathroom and areas beneath the refrigerator. The project was completed with the installation of seven pre-hung doors and two bi-fold closet doors, complemented with trim and hardware supplied by the customer.
This basement remodel in Wyomissing, PA, not only improved the usability of the space but also significantly boosted its visual appeal and functionality.
